01 Design

Drawn from tradition.

This chair is an homage to Hans Wegner, a prolific mid-century Danish furniture designer who released too many iconic pieces to name here. Truly a master of design, his work continues to inspire us to create simple, organic furniture that will hopefully stand the test of time.

With obvious details hinting at Wegner's timeless CH23 chair, our goal with this design was not to steal from him, but rather to see what we could learn from him. Designed over 75 years ago, we marvel at the idea that his designs still resonate with us today.

We hope that when you sit on one of these chairs you feel the same connection to history that we feel when crafting these chairs.

Subtle complexity.

At first glance this is visually simplistic. When someone walks into a room with these chairs, they aren't screaming for attention — simple shapes and a lighter wood lend the design a modest quality. But pause to look at how it's made and the construction is quite complex: 15 individual hand-shaped pieces, 20 mortise-and-tenons, every piece meeting at a non-90-degree angle. Attention to detail isn't optional.

As craftsmen, this is likely why we fell in love with these designs of old. While the chair feels modest and welcoming in our space, contemplating its design lets us admire the thoughtfulness and skill of the craftsmen who built them.
